There was a good turnout for our annual Christmas Social, which was a very jolly affair! Everyone was welcomed with a free drink, courtesy of the club, which went down well. The tables were set with festive floral arrangements made by Liz Gulliver, and there were crackers, Christmas music and a bulging sack full of Secret Santa gifts for everyone! The raffle table was loaded with prizes, (not forgetting the Grand Prize of the Christmas Hamper for one lucky member) and the buffet to which everyone had contributed looked very tempting!
The evening began with a collection of short Christmas-based quizzes, including a picture quiz, a crossword and 2 multiple choice question sheets about the statistics of Christmas and Christmas in other countries. Then it was time to eat, and after that we had the super-raffle and the Grand Draw for the Hamper which was won by Maureen Macneil! The evening was rounded off with emptying the present sack, and I reckon we must all have been very good, because Santa had forgotten no-one!
Everyone enjoyed themselves, and Di Barker even managed to go round and get a few names for possible new committee members to be decided at our forthcoming AGM in January!
