Instead of “Tales of the Riverbank” at our first meeting in June, we had “Tales of the Unexpected” as our booked speaker was unfortunately unwell at the last minute.
However, nothing phases Capel Ladies – and our Games Master for the Evening, Pat Bradford, was called upon to fill the gap!
As a result we had some very entertaining activities. There were two card games, one like Bingo and another called “Last Man Standing” along similar lines, followed by a “Nostalgia” quiz about everything from TV to Inventions and ‘Comic’ characters to sweets. I think everyone had fun remembering highlights of days gone by! Of course the atmosphere was even more convivial with drinks from the Vine Lounge helping to lubricate those little grey cells, and prizes were presented to all the winners! Thanks, Pat, for a fun evening, and all good wishes to our absent speaker Lewis Tyler. Hope you are feeling better by now.
Fun Day was our next venture, and we ran our usual cake stall selling delicious items all made by our members. We sold out, making a profit of around £65 for the funds! Thank you to all our customers!
We have a visit to the local Recycling Centre at Great Blakenham coming up next, followed by our Summer Social in the Vine Lounge. If you would like to get involved with us, please see the web site, or contact Di Barker on 311870. “You never know what you’re gonna get next”, as Tom Hanks once said…. or something similar. It’s all good fun, anyway.
