The choice of venue for our Christmas meal this year was made after several members had been on a very enjoyable afternoon visit to Acorn Village at Mistley, and it proved to be an excellent choice too.

Although the Coffee Shop at Acorn Village is quite small it was plenty big enough for our party of 24 and was warm and cosy with all the Christmas trimmings around. The food was promptly served and extremely tasty, just like the best home cooking, and everyone was pleased with their choice of meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful – nothing was too much trouble. There were also home-made and decorated Christmas cakes for sale at very reasonable prices. At the end of our meal Capel Ladies gave the catering staff a big round of applause!

Many of us have plans to call in there during the week for coffee or lunch, as they are open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday with a full regular menu – including roasts, salads and vegetarian meals, daily specials and snacks as well. The quality food is sourced locally and a proportion is grown on site, and for the better weather there is a conservatory and a garden so you can dine outdoors. An ideal venue for eating out at any time of year!
