It was yet another glamorous evening in Capel Library at our “In” meeting in November! There was a good turnout to see Sue Helyer, who was there to give us advice on skin-care and make-up. Trisha Coates took the plunge and volunteered to act as the model for the night, and while we watched her face was cleansed, toned, moisturised and finally transformed when the make-up was applied. It was just a shame to look so glamorous late in the evening, knowing that in a couple of hours at bed-time all the make-up would have to come off! There were one or two suggestions that Trisha should make the most of it and go clubbing for the night, but as there were no other takers she took her coat off again and settled down with her coffee and biscuits.
Several ladies approached Sue Helyer with queries of their own about skin care and cosmetics, which she was happy to answer, and there were also items of make-up for sale. Sue has a studio at Copdock where clients can go for various beauty treatments, and she sells gift tokens to give as presents for these treatments. Everyone loves a bit of pampering!
In addition to the make-up demonstration, there was a selection of beaded jewellery on sale for us to peruse. It had all been designed and made by Carol Lacey, and there was quite a wide variety of items to choose from, including rings, brooches, pendants, necklaces and even one or two ornaments! A number of us came away with some pretty and unusual pieces that you wouldn’t see in the shops.
Our next meetings include a shopping trip to Norwich, a Christmas crafts evening and our annual Christmas Social, always a happy occasion! Do come along and give us a go – new members will be made very welcome!
