20th Dec | Christmas Social

20121220_192432There was a good turnout for our annual Christmas Social, which was a very jolly affair! Everyone was welcomed with a free drink, courtesy of the club, which went down well. The tables were set with festive floral arrangements made by Liz Gulliver, and there were crackers, Christmas music and a bulging sack full of Secret Santa gifts for everyone! The raffle table was loaded with prizes, (not forgetting the Grand Prize of the Christmas Hamper for one lucky member) and the buffet to which everyone had contributed looked very tempting! 15th Nov | Norwich Shopping Trip

fine-city It was ideal weather – cold but sunny – for the shopping trip to Norwich on the train! There was a small but elite group of ladies and friends, who managed to get half price travel on their cheap day return tickets from Ipswich. After a coffee together they went their various ways in search of any bargains and gifts, or simply window shopping for ideas. Everyone then found somewhere nice to have lunch.  One group ate at “Caley’s Cocoa Cafe” which is situated in the 15th Century Norwich Guildhall, near the market, a very interesting building. After another bout of shopping the whole party returned home at 5, all agreeing they had had a “grand day out”.

4th Oct | Hatch, Match & Dispatch

Our October meeting – “Hatch, Match & Dispatch” – sounded as though it was to be a rather formal lecture, all about the work of a lady Registrar, but as it turned out it was a light-hearted talk followed by a fun quiz.

Jane Parker was the Registrar, and she began by giving us some background information about the profession in general. Continue reading
